學英語作文 篇4

Since the financial crisis swept the world, the global economy has sunk into a severe recession. It’s hard to get through a day without hearing or reading news about the devastating effects of the crisis: A world of companies go bankrupt, millions of employees are laid off, high-return investment bubbles burst, and huge sums of loans can never be retrieved. Its impact on our daily life can be felt in all walks of life。

College students inevitably fall victim to this pervasive slump as well. On top of that, internships and job vacancies are reduced to the minimum as companies keep shrinking. New graduates find themselves hard to get a job, not to speak of a satisfactory one. What comes next? Poor students will be hard-pressed if they find student loans unavailable any more. As a result, some even cannot afford to continue their studies. Lastly, more students are probably out there anxiously looking for part-time jobs now that they have to help cover their expenses in this gloomy economy. Their innocence and eagerness might be taken advantage of by some malicious businesspeople, or even criminal gang。

In response to these threats, we students must act promptly and wisely. Since we definitely will be facing a competitive job market, it’s crucial that we submit high quality resumes. Therefore, we must commit more to our professional studies. Even do better, master more relevant job skills as a double security. Furthermore, apply for scholarships and grants, as these are still available and we don’t have to pay them back. As for the safety issues, trust our instinct – there’s no free lunch in this world. Anything that promises quick returns without much work is a sure trap. Stay alert and protect ourselves。

學英語作文 篇5

leisure--an anachronism?

the other day i asked my nine year old younger brother what he liked to do for fun in his leisure time. he seemed to regard it as an odd question. "i don't actually have much leisure time." he said."homework, tennis lessons and piano lessons.., eat it all up. i have three piano lessons a week now."

i was startled. i used to consider it was only gown ups who were suffering from great pressure. now the modern competitive world seems to have worked on children alike. i do not think kids have as much fun as they used to. competition keeps getting in the way. leisure seems to have become a luury.

according to a recent survey, more than 80 percent of americans complain that they do not have the time to do what they really want to do, let alone enjoy the leisure time. it is a tragedy. we live in a constraint state, unable to pursue our so-called past pace of information society has made most people feel uncomfortable. computer, microwave, gimmicks and gadgets, all these appliances require far more complicated knowledge and techniques than ever before. and just to feel more secure about their relationship with technology, people make great efforts to follow the heels of the latest inventions, weary, reluctant and unhappy.

i know lots of people who avoid recreation because they lack the time or the evement is the national god, worshipped in our mediathe million dollar athlete, the wealthy ecutiveand glorified in our praise of possessions. in the presence of such a influential state religion, how can people ever "waste" their valuable time on taking up such "etravagance" as leisure when they could have learned or earned more during that period?

ambition, drive and the desire to ecel are all great within limits, but we should not allow them to be the whole story of our times we should forget about doing best all the time, focusing on relaation, enjoyment, and the purpose of not collapsing under enormous pressure, an occasional break from our daily routine is necessary. we can make stress work for us instead of against us.

學英語作文 篇6

When comes to the graduate season, college students need to find a job. As the new in the job market, they don’t have the work experience, so they are so worried about finding a job. For most of them, they will present their applications no matter if they are interested in the job. This is not the right thing to do.

Students should take the interview with their sincerity, if not, they are wasting the employers’ time. Take my friend for example. She had got several interviews, when she presented the applications, she said she just wanted to try, even she got the job, she would not accept, for she was not interested. Then she was wanted by a company which she was not interested in, she refused to sign the contract. The employers were so angry with her, because they missed so many excellent students. At the same time, she wasted the employers’ time and energy.

I learn that we should not bother the company if we don’t have sincerity. Never try to waste other people’s time, or we will be punished some day.

學英語作文 篇7

One of the wonderful things about being a foreign educator in china, is that chinese students are so eager to learn from you. they have been trained from an early age to be knowledge sponges, looking to soak up as much new information from their teachers as they can. secondly, confucian education demands a high degree of respect for teachers. the title lao shi is one of reverence in chinese society, though teachers tend to be poorly paid. even greater is the respect in china for foreign teachers or foreign eperts as they are called. despite the fact that most foreign eperts in china have no previous epertise as teachers of english as a foreign language but are employed as such, the chinese government welcomes their contribution by bestowing a respectful title upon them. thus, chinese students hold their foreign teachers especially in high regard, which is perhaps why so many people who come to china to teach end up staying here longer.

It would be hard to find this level of appreciation for teachers among american students. young people in the u.s. have a somewhat different attitude toward educators; they are taught to question, not simply absorb, so they decide for themselves if a teacher is credible. american students may reject their teachers, confronting them and even publicly disagreeing with them as part of the learning process. american young people are less accepting of information at face value, preferring to evaluate for themselves as to whether or not what the teacher says is true or useful.

The status of the teacher in eastern and western education has a major impact on the way students take responsibility for their learning. chinese students become heavily reliant on their teachers to give them the right information and can easily blame the teacher if they do not do well in the class by saying, the teacher didnt teach me enough. american students tend to be more independent as learners, and teachers encourage them to do research on their own, form study groups and seek answers from outside sources. this gives american students more fleibility in gathering information, and also encourages them to be responsible for their learning. responsibility in this contet does not simply mean memorizing the correct answers to pass an eam, it refers to the sense of ownership that makes learning meaningful.

In chinese, people epress modesty by saying that they gave all their knowledge back to the teacher. this implies that the person never really owned the knowledge in the first place, but simply borrowed it from the teacher to pass the eam. but it also implies that the person never cherished this knowledge, because he or she never owned it, and so they neglected it and eventually forgot it. its just like the difference between living in a dormitory and living in your own house. no one who lives in a dorm takes very good care of it, especially the public areas. but once you own a home, you make it beautiful and keep it clean because it has greater value to you. this is pride of ownership, and what is owned is cherished. what is cherished endures.

As much as chinese students appreciate their foreign teachers, they should not forget that responsibility for learning comes from within, not from without. the teacher cannot give someone english. no one can get english from a teacher or from a book like one can get a cold. responsibility for learning can only come from the learner, when he or she freely chooses to own the quality of his or her learning eperience, versus relying on borrowed knowledge from eperts.

學英語作文 篇8

A True, Good Student

What is meant by a true, good student ? A true, good student is one who possesses good morality, sound health, perfect knowledge and various abilities. To attain this, I shall give a few suggestions as follows:

First, cultivate good morality. One of the best qualities of a student is good behavior. Bad character is easily scorned and disdained. Polite manners and noble ideas make up a true man. Such evil habits as smoking, drinking, gambling, etc. should be got rid of. Whenever you find something wrong, correct it quickly. You should be sincere to your friends, respectful to your teachers and the elder. In short, you should do everything right.

Second, study diligently and put your knowledge to practical use. “Knowledge is power”, said Francis Bacon. One will not reach the rich storehouse of knowledge unless he studies carefully: no diligence, no accomplishment. To apply knowledge to practical use is, however, more important. Students ought to apply their learning to something practical to benefit the people.

Third, make your body strong and healthy. Health is the key to success. Broken in health, one can do nothing. A sound mind is found only in a sound body. The healthier your body is, the brighter your mind will be, and the higher learning you can attain. So you should never neglect your health. “Work while you work; play while you play” is a good way for everybody to observe.

With the foregoing three points in mind, you may be “a truly good student”.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic: What does friendship mean? You should write at least 120 words and you shouldbase your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:

1.友誼是人生永恆的主題

2.友誼到底意味著什麼

3友誼的重要性。

What does friendship mean?

There is no definite answer. An eternal theme in literature, friendship is also indispensable in daily life.

Friendship is to our life what salt is to dishes. When you are happy, friendship is just like adding flowers on the brocade; when you are sad, friendship is a dose of consolation; if you are in trouble, friends will surround you and remove the barriers for you; if you have a hard nut to crack, you can turn to friends for help. We admire the great friendship between Marx and Engel, which firmly combined them and pushed them forward on the road to exploring and fulfilling Communism.

Friendship isnt almighty, but no one can live happily without it.
